UC Davis, Kerr Hall Seismic Retrofit |
Crosby Group performed ASCE-31 Tier I and Tier II level structural assessment of the circs 1960’s Kerr Hall building. This 6-story concrete shear wall building was categorized to a seismic rating of ‘Poor’ per the University standards. A seismic retrofit was designed in order to improve the structural performance to ‘Good’.
The seismic retrofit was combined with an architectural modernization of the building. New structural walls will be built within the interior of the building and will be supported on a below-grade foundation wall to transfer the seismic forces to existing drilled piers. The retrofit will result in minimal change to the usable space within the building. The project is under construction.
