Fremont Police Headquarters Seismic Retrofit |
Crosby Group was the prime consultant for the seismic retrofit of this occupied three-story, 75,000 square foot police headquarters facility for the City of Fremont that was constructed in 1993. This essential services building houses the City’s only 911 dispatch center and remained occupied and in full service throughout the construction phase. Situated less than a half mile from the Hayward Fault, our task was to bring the current structure up to Immediate Occupancy performance standards while keeping the building operational through construction.
A 3-D non-linear dynamic analysis was performed for this building following ASCE 41 and FEMA 351 to more accurately predict the true building performance. Additionally, full-scale testing of the existing and retrofitted moment connections was performed by Chia-Ming Uang at UC San Diego to accurately predict their performance for analysis.
Crosby’s expertise in understanding and designing within mission critical environments was a key reason for the City’s choice of Crosby Group for this retrofit.
