Crosby Group performed full structural design and construction administration for a new 200,000sf Juvenile Detention Facility located in Visalia, California. The design accommodated for a site that was prone to flooding and in a remote area. This facility is comprised of five main housing units and six support structures including: Housing units 1-5, Infirmary/Intake, Vehicle Sallyport, Warehouse, Kitchen/ Laundry, Central Plant, and Administration Building. The facility is mainly constructed from concrete masonry unit walls, cast-in-place concrete floor and roof slabs with some intermediate concrete topping slabs over steel framing. Special architectural design features included an administration facility that included atriums and custom staircases with tight deflections.
