|
|
Crosby Group provided structural engineering design services to develop comprehensive
bridging documents for the design-build of the new Student Services Building for the San Joaquin Delta Community
College District in Stockton, California. This new two-story 50,300 square foot facility serves as the “Gateway”
to the campus and consolidates all of the student services into one facility that are currently spread throughout the Stockton Campus.
These functions include: Admissions, Records and Registration, Financial Aid Services, Counseling, Disabled Students Program Services
(DSPS), Extended Opportunity Program Services (EOPS), Career & Transfer, Calworks, Worknet, as well as shared assembly multi-use spaces,
and various related support spaces.
The building has both a unique and challenging double curvilinear shape which allows it to effortlessly blend into the site as
well as provide architectural interest. It also includes inviting spaces for students and staff including various meeting areas
throughout the facility and an outdoor terrace on the second floor. The bridging documents included Design Development Plus
design including complete dynamic analysis and detailing of the gravity and lateral force resisting systems.
