Higher Education : Foothill College Vehicular Traffic Bridge @ Parking Lot 1
|
|
Crosby Group provided complete structural engineering design for the new Foothill College Vehicular Traffic
Bridge at Parking Lot 1 as part of the Outer Campus Site Improvements (parking and circulation) project for the Foothill-DeAnza Community
College District. The addition of the new vehicular and pedestrian bridge provides additional access to Parking Lot 1 across Adobe Creek.
The bridge spans 55 feet and is 34 feet wide and is structurally supported by two main steel trusses that span across the creek, with steel
girders spanning between at the truss panel points. A concrete slab over metal deck is supported on the steel girders between trusses
providing the driving/pedestrian surface. The bridge is anchored to concrete abutments at each end supported on drilled cast-in-place concrete piers.
The steel bridge supports two lanes of vehicular traffic (designed for an AASHTO HL-93 Design Truck) and one sidewalk for pedestrian traffic.
The bridge also includes pedestrian guardrails and vehicular crash barriers.
